MUST READ BEFORE PRACTICE: Return to Practice Protocol
by posted 06/11/2020

In an effort to return to play safely, we are asking parents to ensure their child is in good health and does not pose a risk to their teammates or coaches.

In order to do so we are asking for the parents to ensure their child's temperature is below the recommended 100.4 degrees Fahrenheit.

Before each practice, parents will receive a link to a waiver from their coaching staff or team parent support system that validates their child is in good health and maintains a proper body temperature.  Therefore, it is imperative to ensure you are receiving team level communication via, email, group chat, etc.

We will be accomplishing this using the SportID waiver application, which is the same platform we use for tournament check-ins and waivers. We recommend downloading the SportID app on your phone. Attached is a copy of the waiver you will be signing and attesting to each time you utilize the SportID app for practice.

One pitfall of utilizing the SportID app is when check-in for practice it will ask for a signature but not show you the waiver you are signing, which is why we are providing it upfront to you in this message.  However, upon completion of the waiver, you will receive a verification email that will include the waiver with your signature.

Upon your arrival to the fields we ask that players get ready at their car. It is imperative that neither players nor parents congregate into groups in the parking lot. We ask that players who are ready to enter the field approach the gate and check in with one of the coaches checking waivers. If there is a backup at the entrance to the field, please make sure to wait in line along the fence separated by 6 feet. A player will not be allowed on the field without a waiver, their full gear AND water or Gatorade. It is going to be a hot and humid season and we will not be able to let players share water like we have in the past. We will have water bottles on premise during the first two weeks of practice for those who have forgotten a beverage at home. Please refer to the checklist before sending your child to check in on the night of practice.

Practice Night Checklist

Players will not be allowed onto the fields without:

·        -Signed Waiver for that date’s practice

·        -Full Equipment

·        -Water or Gatorade

Finally, we have put in a tremendous effort to establish guidelines and protocols that will keep our organization safe and healthy. To achieve that goal, we must ask our members to take the same care in doing so.  We have a wonderful opportunity to return to playing amid this pandemic and we have certain reporting requirements to the county, what we are asking of you is a big part at fulfilling these requirements.

"RETURN TO PLAY COVID-19 Guidelines in accordance with Hillsborough County Parks and Recreation Department and Nortwest Tampa Lacrosse, Inc.

I, __________________________ as PLAYER'S PARENT/GUARDIAN, with authority to verify for the PLAYER, do hereby certify compliance with the COVID-19 guidelines as set forth by Hillsborough County Parks and Recreation Department and Northwest Tampa Lacrosse.  The PARENT/GUARDIAN takes responsibility for the Covid-19 Guidelines compliance and understands the PARENT/GUARDIAN is solely responsible for verifying the PLAYER is not displaying any symptoms associated with COVID-19 and that the PLAYER's temperature is normal (Below 100 Degrees)."

If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to ask.  Thank you.

Northwest Tampa Lacrosse Return to Play Guidelines

We at Northwest Tampa Lacrosse are very excited to return to play.  In order to minimize risk, we have established the following guidelines for the safety and well-being of all.  Please take the time to carefully review the following with your player.

  • No player will be allowed to participate in any Northwest Tampa Lacrosse event or activity without a signed and dated COVID-19 waiver for Northwest Tampa Lacrosse. *(Will be provided before the first practice)

  • Parents are REQUIRED to monitor their child for symptoms prior to attending any Northwest Tampa Lacrosse event or activity.  Those symptoms include fever at or above 100.4℉, cough, shortness of breath, chills, muscle pain, new loss of taste or smell.  Parents are encouraged to keep a record of their child’s temperature and overall health to monitor trends in their child’s well-being.

  • All players must be game ready upon arrival to any Northwest Tampa Lacrosse event or activity.  Boys must wear helmets, gloves, mouthguard and cleats out of the car to his assigned area.  Girls must wear goggles, mouthguard and cleats to her assigned area.

  • Parents/Chaperones/Drivers are not allowed to enter the field space and are required to practice social distancing.

  • Equipment bags are not allowed out of the car.  All players should make an effort to bring minimal extra gear or supplies.

  • All players must bring their own water.  Plan for a large reusable water bottle clearly identified with your child’s name.

  • Each practice session will consist of 25 players, broken down into separate groups of no more than 5 players for small group instruction.

  • Players are required to prioritize safety and limit unnecessary contact.  There will be no handshakes, fist bumps, high fives or hugs.

  • Balls may not be touched by any player with their hands at any time.  Your stick is the only way you are allowed to pick up the ball.  All players must maintain social distancing while ball hunting.

  • All players are encouraged to use the restroom at home.  During designated break times, no more than 5 users at a time will be accompanied by a coach and provided disinfectant wipes to wipe touchpoints within the restroom after use. All athletes are required to wash their hands prior to returning to activity.  Additionally, the 2 bathrooms accessible will be cleaned and disinfected before and after each practice.

  • Water breaks will be conducted on a rotational basis to ensure no more than 1 small group is congregating at a time.

  • There is no sharing of equipment. All players are required to provide their own equipment.

  • No games will be played at the facility for the summer or fall season.  During game play, the guidance on safety measures are provided by and vary by facility.

  • Concession Stands are not currently in service.

As we anticipate the likelihood that public health guidelines will evolve, please continue to monitor Northwest Tampa Lacrosse website and social media for developments.

Finally, playing is a privilege.  No individual is above the guidelines established for the safety and well-being of all.  If any player fails to adhere to any of these guidelines, that player will be asked to leave.

We are happy to announce the official start to our season will be the week of June 15th. Our 12u and 14u teams will be practicing on Monday and Wednesday nights from 6PM to 8PM, while our High School teams will be practicing on Tuesday and Thursday nights from 6PM to 8PM.  Practices will be held at Northlakes Park located at:

2640 N. Lakeview Drive

Tampa, FL 33618

There will be social distancing guidelines during practice along with the drop off and pick up of players. Further information will be provided next week as we are finalizing the field schedule and getting protocols approved by the county. During the first two weeks of practice players should expect to be broken into groups of less than 10 players and will be participating in drills that provide a safe social distance. After the first two weeks we plan on integrating players in slightly larger groups and then eventually full squad scrimmages as the county rolls back their restrictions. Now that we have our official start date it is important to register as soon as possible. Roster spots are filling up as the kids are eager to get back onto the fields. Please keep an eye out for a Zoom Conference invite for an informational session next week.
